Charles Grimes - survey of Port Phillip Bay

board 14

george seelaf - boat design

The Grimes re-enactment was possible because there was a replica of the boat that the Grimes party used to explore the Maribyrnong and Yarra Rivers.

The boat was a 13 foot Clinker, a common design of that era. The designs for the boat were researched by George Seelaf and built at the local Footscray TAFE by Jack Faulkner and his students.

Download newspaper article from the 'Western Times' Feb 1 1998 about the project written by Karen Murphy.
