the surveyor general's tribute

On the following day, Sunday February 2nd, the Surveyor General of Victoria, Keith Bell, addressed the crowd at the City Event.

Inspired by the event, Keith Bell commissioned a plaque for the place that the Grimes party was said to land in the area that is now the City of Melbourne. The plaque was unveiled by John So, Lord Mayor of Melbourne, on February 27th 2003.
