Promotion poster for the Archaeological dig
In 1989 interest was growing in the significance of this part of early Melbourne and an archaeological dig was organised which involved a number of historians and archaeologists.
There are two reports arising from that project and they can both be downloaded here.Following those projects further archaeological work around Footscray has been done through Maribyrnong City Council and other channels.

This link is to download the actual report from the Archaeological Dig. Titled ‘Archaeological Investigations of the City Link Development Site Footscray 1989’.
'Grimes Reserve, Footscray_1989.pdf' (734 kb)
Similarly this is a smaller report about a smaller area within the larger archaeological study area and it is about work on what is now known as Grimes Reserve.
