Charles Grimes – Survey of Port Phillip

Board 14: George Seelaf – Boat Design

The Grimes re-enactment was possible because there was a replica of the boat that the Grimes party used to explore the Maribyrnong and Yarra Rivers.

The boat was a 13 foot Clinker, a common design of that era. The designs for the boat were researched by George Seelaf and built at the local Footscray TAFE by Jack Faulkner and his students.
