Board 3: 2003 Re-enactment Event
Re-enactment in February 2003 for Grimes Expedition of 1803.
On the weekend of February the 1st and 2nd, 2003, Melbourne’s Living Museum of the West in partnership with Friends of the Maribyrnong Valley celebrated the bi-centenary of the exploration of the Maribynong and Yarra Rivers by the Grimes Survey Team.
The project was funded by City West Water with strong support by Maribyrnong City Council and Parks Victoria.
A driving force behind the project, tour boat operator, Peter Somerville with a replica of the boat used by the Grimes team to survey the rivers. This boat was built by Footscray College of TAFE some years ago and was presented to the City of Maribyrnong.
